The FA have today confirmed the ‘highly innovative’ VAR (Video Assist Referee) technology introduced this season is actually all created through Microsoft Paint.
VAR was again the centre of attention this weekend after Juan Mata was denied a controversial goal against Huddersfield in the FA Cup.
Mata thought he’d doubled Manchester United’s lead, but VAR and referee Kevin Friend came to the conclusion he was offside after this image was skillfully produced.
