Where do you stand on this?

Anthony Taylor’s decision to award Chelsea a penalty at the Emirates this evening has divided football fans everywhere.

The controversial incident occurred in 66th minute of the Premier League fixture when Hector Bellerin kicked Eden Hazard’s dangling foot as the pair competed for a loose ball.

The Spanish right-back didn’t touch the ball but the contact was not enough to send the Belgian No10 sprawling to the deck in the manner exhibited.

The ball ricochets between the two players Hazard gets a foot to it first Bellerin kicks Hazard’s foot with minimal force Hazard goes down under the challenge Anthony Taylor points to the spot

Arsenal fans believe their side were on the wrong side of a soft spot-kick for the second game in a row.

Whereas Chelsea fans see it as a clearcut foul.

And judging from social media, the neutrals are split down the middle…

Definite penalty. Yes, Hazard milks the majority of fouls but Bellerin was clumsy and naive. Don’t give ref a decision to make.

That's never a penalty. Second time in a week dubious refereeing has cost Arsenal. Unfortunate

Definite penalty. No arguments here!

Was never a penalty. Arsenal have been robbed twice in the space of 4 days, and I love it.

That was a penalty in my opinion.
But its just me

Never a penalty, Hazard is a cheat.

It is a penalty. *hides under table*

You can see both sides’ argument.

It looks a certain dive on Hazard’s part but also, isn’t kicking another player’s foot without getting any of the ball a foul?

Sky Sports mixed the pot by having the two of them give post-match interviews simultaneously.

Bellerin told Geoff Shreeves: “I tried to challenge for it, we both got their at the same time and the referee gave a penalty.”

While Hazard was less diplomatic, saying: “Look at the replay, it was a penalty.”

The 26-year-old did follow this up with a laugh and a nod to his opponent, suggesting his reply was at at least partially tongue-in-cheek.

Bellerin somewhat made amends for conceding the penalty with a superbly taken volley to equalise in stoppage time after Marcos Alonso thought he’d won the game for the visitors in the 84th minute with a near-post finish.

Jack Wilshere opened the scoring in a thrilling game with a thunderous finish past Thibaut Courtois at the near post four minutes before the penalty decision midway through the second half.

Chelsea fans would argue that the Gunners midfielder was lucky to still be on the pitch as he got away with a what looked like a dive having already been booked for a late lunge on Cesc Fabregas.

In the end, a point each was probably a fair result in what must go down as one of the most entertaining games of the season.

Games between two teams from the top six are so good when Jose Mourinho isn’t involved…
