FIFA 18: EA Sports gave this Ligue 1 player an upgrade then cruelly downgraded him hours later

FIFA fans are up in arms after spotting a player who had his rating boosted suddenly downgraded hours later.

Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar is already making waves at just 19 years old.

In fact, Liverpool are reportedly looking to splash some of the cash they got from Philippe Coutinho to acquire the services of the youngster.

They’ll have their work cut out, though – Barcelona are reportedly interested, too.

There was little doubt that Aouar was due an upgrade and he appeared as one of the Ligue 1 players to have boosted stats in the Ratings Refresh period.

Aouar climbed a massive eight points – jumping from a 67-rated silver to 75-rated gold.

That’s some jump

However, when his card appeared in the game – his stats were substantially lower – with passing, defence and physical condition all negatively affected.

Unsurprisingly, fans on the FIFA sub-reddit are furious – and don’t understand why this has happened.

To be honest, we’re a bit stumped, too.

The downgraded card on the market

EA has been busy refreshing some of the biggest names in the Premier League last Friday and following that with an upgrade on Serie A players on Sunday.

Ligue 1 then followed, with EA’s team of data collectors adjusting the ratings of some of the French top-flight’s biggest stars accordingly.

We’re pleased to see that among the players to receive upgrades include Bordeaux winger Malcolm – who was hotly pursued by both Arsenal and Spurs in January – and former Premier League favourite Mario Balotelli, who’s turning out for Nice these days and doing rather well for himself beside the French Riviera.

But one of the biggest upgrades is Lyon’s Nabil Fekir, who’s jumped by a massive two points from 82 to 84.

The 24-year-old has scored 21 goals in all competitions this season after being awarded the captain’s armband and also made three appearances for the French national team in 2017.

Another happy camper will be PSG youngster Adrien Rabiot, who rose from 80 to 82 after a strong run in the table-toppers starting line-up.

Other notable upgrades include Marseille’s Luiz Gustavo, who’s seen major improvements in his shooting and defending, while his Velodrome teammate Florian Thauvin will be happy to see major improvements to his shooting.
Remember, EA Sports will be announcing FIFA 19 very soon – so keep up to date with all FIFA 19 news here.
