FA confirm VAR technology ‘is actually just Microsoft Paint’

The FA have today confirmed the ‘highly innovative’ VAR (Video Assist Referee) technology introduced this season is actually all created through Microsoft Paint.

Mata thought he’d doubled Manchester United’s lead, but VAR and referee Kevin Friend came to the conclusion he was offside after this image was skillfully produced.

And Lee Satchell, a pioneer in the field and the man dubbed ‘Mr VAR’, has confirmed all their decisions are indeed made through Paint.

Satchell, speaking to us on his Motorola Razr, said: “It really is foolproof.

“You can do anything on Paint. Draw smiley faces, spice up your desktop background and, of course, determine offside decisions in key cup clashes.

“Technology and innovation in 2018 really does blow my mind. Have you heard about this ‘iPod’ thing? Don’t get me wrong I love my Walkman, but this sounds like the future.”
